Spring Clean Your Self Care Routine

If you are stuck in a beauty routine that you have been using for years, you may have toxin build-up that can manifest itself physically throughout your whole body.  This month we are encouraging you to spring clean your routine!

Sakrid was born due to the realisation that there are potentially harmful ingredients within many of the brands and products that we have all grown-up with.  The issue is that for creatures of habit, using the same product year upon year can lead to a build-up of nasty toxin residue, that the body is unable to effectively remove due to the constant bombardment.  We just keep topping it up innocently, every single day. 

Sometimes, your body will try to alert you to this issue.  You may develop an unexplainable rash, or you may suddenly experience digestion issues.  Whilst the body is 'clogged' with toxins that affect its proper function, it won't have the ability to heal any disorder within the rest of the bodily system.   I know it sounds crazy to think that a single ingredient within your shampoo for example can be contributing to issues throughout your whole body.  But the human body is a tough but sensitive machine.  Nature provides us with everything we need to promote the effective function of our bodies.  And yet in the modern world, we expose ourselves to so many synthetic and man-made substances, or even poisons from nature (and there are plenty!).

Detox is a term we are all pretty familiar with.  The term 'detox' conjours up so many horrid thoughts about purging bad and enduring a torturous ordeal to reach ‘clean’.  But a detox doesn’t have to be extreme or depriving.  As I’ve mentioned before, the human body is actually very efficient at ridding the body of toxins; you simply have to make small changes to encourage it to cleanse itself.  When I think about a detox, I consider it as a lifestyle goal.  Every day I simply want to give my body the best opportunity to cleanse itself of a build-up of any harmful toxins that I have been exposed to, through the environment, products, food etc.

So where do you start?

I challenge you to throw out 1 product from your current self-care routine that contains one or more of this list of my top 10 most toxic ingredients:

  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) / Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)
  • Parabens
  • Phthalates
  • Propylene Glycol
  • Triclosan
  • Formaldehyde
  • Toluene
  • Sunscreen Chemicals
  • Parfum / Synthetic Fragrances
  • Synthetic Colours

Once you have identified the product, replace it with one product from the Sakrid range and within weeks you will begin to feel the difference! If you are really up for a detox, then choose more than one.  You won’t regret it.  What will happen is your body will feel more able to naturally detox itself from the build-up of toxins and the soothing natural ingredients will offer a much-needed nutrient boost to cells. 

Using natural products within your self-care routine, simply encourages your body to function most effectively.  Your hair wants to shine and it will if the roots and shaft are healthy and not coated in synthetic clogging ingredients.  Your skin wants to glow and be clear of acne.  Once you remove nasty ingredients that block you pores, this is entirely possible!
